RESUME ASSESSMENT:

Your resume is beautiful and you are ready to send your masterpiece into the world. You have spent many hours polishing, correcting, and revising it from top to bottom. You want it to be perfect and outstanding; after all, you are the best in your field.

We will check your resume for presentation and format, sort out through the categories of your resume, reflect and point out to any other considerations that we believe might be relevant.

SOME TIPS TO REMEMBER:

A resume is your marketing tool - •present yourself wisely.

• It is all about YOU - shine. It is about your performance on the job, and not about listing your past employment.

• Use (whenever possible, it needs to make sense) sentences that start with the word: "accomplishments" instead of "responsibilities"

• Make certain you know what you are after: job objective. It is good to be specific here not to make an impression that indicates lack of direction and planning.

• If your job experience has been attention-grabbing and remarkable throughout years, it is quite appropriate to go back even 15 to 20 years.

• There is no need to include your reading list, hobbies and interests on your resume. (Exception: university and high school faculty: they might even ask you that on their application.) They somehow expect that your hobbies and pastimes should be interconnected with your professional life.

• No religious or ethnic affiliations, please.

• Write your resume on good quality, white paper, leave “fancies” for wedding invitations.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
YOUR RESUME :

  • Uses consistent formatting for dates, accomplishments.
  • Displays your most relevant qualifications near the top of the page or section.
  • What type of resume do you want to use: functional, skills oriented, chronological?
  • Highlights experience: paid or unpaid.
  • Uses action verbs to describe that experience.
  • DO NOT use jargon to depict your experience: the worst job-search advice tells you to write your résumé using tedious, office trite writing that drops a bright person's résumé like a rock. Please ignore that advice, and write your résumé intelligently.
